BonTerra® Erosion Control Blankets
BonTerra® Erosion Control Blankets for Protection against Soil and Seed Loss
BonTerra® Erosion Control Blankets are manufactured with a layer of coir, straw or with a mixture of these natural fibres. On the upper and lower side BonTerra® Blankets are stitched with 100 % organic netting and with Jute or Cotton thread. Alternatively the blankets can be stitched with Polypropylene netting and thread.
Once applied, BonTerra® Erosion Control Blankets give immediate protection against soil and seed loss caused by wind and rain erosion, and promote the establishment of vegetation.
Coir absorbs and stores moisture, which is then released to the plants in dry periods. It also conserves moisture in the soil. Plant development is thus strongly promoted.
BonTerra® Blankets are fixed to the soil with steel or wooden pins. Depending on the type of fibre, BonTerra® Blankets have a duration of approx. 1 -5 years, in which time the vegetation cover will have taken over the task of erosion control.
BonTerra® Erosion Control Blankets are available with or without seeds or mulch materials. In this case a layer of paper is stitched as a bottom layer.
BonTerra® Seeded Blankets require a very even and fine planed soil surface and must have contact with the soil everywhere, permitting the seedlings to root into the soil. Seeded blankets must not be permitted to dry out.
